We are currently recruiting for an IT Support Analyst for our local authority client based in East London. The purpose of the role is to provide the technical expertise required for IT to make the maximum contribution to the business of the client departments.
Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Installation & maintenance of Desktop PCs, printers scanners and other desktop equipment
Using knowledge of the client department`s business, propose ways in which computer solutions could enhance their service delivery
Investigate business requirements, recommend computer solutions and, where appropriate write the requisite computer programmes.
Provide ongoing technical support for personal computer users, including problems analysis and resolutions for both hardware and software.
Manage existing departmental computer systems, maintaining user access and data integrity, ensuring that they achieve the maximum business benefit for the client department.
In conjunction with the client department, evaluate hardware and software to meet client department`s business needs and to ensure that solutions conform to the Council`s standards.
Provide user technical support to agreed SLAs.
Install and configure hardware and software efficiently, to timescales agreed with the departmental client.
Liaise with external suppliers of software and hardware regarding failures to meet specification.
Using the standard development tools, write PC programmes to meet the clients department`s business needs where a packaged software solution is not appropriate.
Undertake support and respond to queries, assessing and prioritising the calls so as to resolve them efficiently and within timescales agreed in the SLA.
Liaise with other sections of IS&T on related projects, including network installation and support, technical support and operations.
The successful candidate will have at least 3 years experience of IT support , be able to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills as well as being flexible. An understanding of the system development cycle, the Microsoft Office range of software, Windows desktop operating systems as well as experience of networking including Novell and NT4 are required (VNC and QSM trained ideally but training will be given).
